Begin Again with the right tools

New Consultation Services

This initial post is meant to introduce myself to those of you that don't know me, and touch base with those of you that I have already completed successful projects with so you know I'm still alive, kick’n, and doing what I love, making your spaces beautiful. So I promise these posts will be a whole lot more fun in the future, but I had to get this initial intro out of the way first.

My plan for future posts will be to give you something fun and informative each week. I will share a new design tips (either for baths, kitchens or misc. interior design), I will highlight a cool new accessory or product that corresponds to my design advice, and hopefully showcase a local resource in town. These will be short snippets, but it will give you a taste of what I know, and what I can do for you as a consultant.

Why did I change things up?

I recently felt the need to Begin Again, and remodel the manner in which I want to provide design services. When I was at Southwest Kitchen I got a lot of phone calls from customers that wanted to step into the process of remodeling their kitchen or bath, but weren’t necessarily ready to invest their time and money with someone that was wanting to sell them the whole job (i.e, the cabinets and the install). At the time that was basically my role. I would hear things like: "I just need some ideas to get started",  "I have no idea what this will cost" or "I just want to make a walk in shower, but I don't know what it will cost or if I have enough space, can you just come look." These people really needed a person that sat somewhere between the contractor and me, which at that time was the cabinet designer. Someone that is willing to come and spend some time just assessing what can be done, and help them come up with a plan so that they can move forward with confidence and not feel like they are wasting the time of someone that is tied to a contract.  Once you have the confidence in what you want and the tools to get the job done then you can go find your contractor, cabinet designer, tiler, ect....

It’s very important to choose the company or contractor that you can trust. To make that decision with assurance there are some things that most folks would like to find out prior to committing. I saw this all the time as a kitchen cabinet designer. I would end up gathering all this extra information about the “other things” involved, such as the many moving parts and pieces that should be considered when doing a remodel. Before we would be able to sign a contract for the work, these mysteries about building a remodel would have to be dispelled. I totally understood why a customer would want these answers. It made perfect sense. They are all pieces of the whole picture (including the budget), and people want to see the whole picture.

What are those "other things"? And What are they going to cost?

If you have never remodeled before, then you have no idea where to begin.

These are the questions I want to answer for my customers. This is what I want to spend my time doing. I have been immersed in these kinds of projects for quite a while. I am an interior designer that has engrossed herself in kitchens and bath remodels for the last 10 years. I’ve been through the bumps, and seen many remodels from start to finish from all different angles. This is valued knowledge that can only be gained from experience. So I decided, why not be a kitchen and bath remodel consultant? I can focus on all the things that I didn’t have time to help the client with before, and leave the cabinet details up to the cabinet designers.

I am here to get people started, with all the right tools and resources necessary to begin their remodel journey. I’m not tied to any contracts or product sales, and because of this I can advocate for you and your best interest for your budget and for your project. I will give you all the right information (tools) so that you are armed to go out there and start making decisions.

Things I can do for you:

·         Help you develop a budget for your project

·         Show you how to decide what function you need in your kitchen or bath                based on how you live in those spaces

·         Help you pull all your hard finishes together

·         Select paint, plumbing, and help you create a tile back splash

·         Or perhaps, just provide you with good old fashion interior design                            assistance - after all, that is where I started

There you have it. This is what I am doing now. If I have successfully helped you design your kitchen or bath and you are looking at another project or you just want to spruce up the old one, or if you have a friend that is Beginning Again with a remodel, I hope you will consider my new services.

Usually one in home consultation is enough to get you started, then it’s up to you if you need more. The services I provide are very affordable and transparent to the customer.  You know exactly what you’re getting. Please refer to my “about page” on my website HERE for more about the services I provide, and my fees.

Once you are armed with the right tools, then you go shop for your materials,  hire the right trades for your project and feel good about what you know and the decisions that you have to make.

Thank you for letting me introduce myself, and I hope I can help you Begin Again
